Attack on Larne War Memorial a Mindless Act - Dickson

Alliance East Antrim MLA Stewart Dickson has said an attack on a war memorial in Larne was an “utterly mindless” act. Mr Dickson was speaking after the memorial in the Church Road area had paint thrown over it sometime overnight. It has been targeted in the past and recently undergone refurbishment. Police are treating the incident as a hate crime. “It is absolutely appalling anyone would carry out this utterly mindless act, which achieves nothing except increasing tensions,” he said. “It is disrespectful to those who lost their lives serving their country and distressing to the people of Larne, who have now seen this memorial attacked twice over the past few months. Speaking after the event Mr Dickson said: “We are facing nonsense regulations that basically prohibit teachers from driving minibuses on their current licenses as they have for decades. Now teachers are being told they must pass specific minibus tests before they can transport pupils that means a costly exam that many schools simply cannot afford. “The consequences will be quite severe, many schools will have to get rid of their buses, and hire them
